  • The family oriented Lake of the Ozarks Festival of the Arts, a charity art show and sale, will be coming up June 20-22 at Shawnee Bluff Winery on the Bagnell Dam Blvd. The purpose of the festival is to showcase a wide variety of artists selling their original, one of a kind fine art and also to raise money for charity. The new Lake Area’s Promise for Youth, a partnership of Camden, Miller and Morgan County schools, churches, organizations and individuals dedicated to addressing the needs of our local youth is that charity.
Artist’s booths will be open Friday, June 20 from 3-8 p.m., Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday June 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A special event sponsored by the Lake Art Council will follow the free festival Sunday at 7 p.m. The Missouri Pops Orchestra will perform and tickets may be purchased at the gate.
The location, Shawnee Bluff Winery, is across from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with its golden statue. A panoramic view of Lake of the Ozarks may be enjoyed while visiting the outdoor art booths. A large tent will house more art booths and the opportunity to sample Shawnee Bluffs wines. The Art Festival Parking sign on Bagnell Dam Blvd will show people where to park and a free shuttle will transport people to and from the festival.
Artists still have time to enter the show and may do so by contacting Loren Woodard at 573-480-2003. Fundraising will include a raffle for an original art quilt depicting Lake of the Ozarks by Ann Say and a portion of the selling price of all artwork sold will support the charity. There is no charge to attend but donations are always welcomed.
The Lake Area’s Promise for Youth has joined the nationwide America’s Promise Alliance and is working within the framework of their five goals: caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, an effective education and opportunities to help others.
