  • Recently, I was admitted to Lake Regional Hospital for extensive tests and following surgery in another facility, I returned to Lake Regional Skilled Nursing floor to recover. The days after surgery are difficult for most patients. I expected to spend seven to ten days before going home. I was able to recover sufficiently in four days to make that happen.
Not everyone is aware of the skilled nursing floor (called SNF). I live alone and it allowed me to encourage my children to move forward with their jobs and lives and to recover quickly to a point that I can take care of myself.
Another thing that is a well-kept secret at our hospital, is the chef hired by the hospital to make meal time pleasant instead of a dreaded ordeal. At the other facility, the hospital served food without flavor or texture. The meals offered patients at Lake REgional Hospital were a pleasant surprise. I am not aware of what is presented to visitors and staff in the cafeteria, but my experience as a patient was great. My favorite meal was a thick, tender pork chop with dressing and tasty sauce along with baby green peas and a dinner roll. I was allowed to select from the cardiac menu.
I want to personally thank the staff who cared for me. Those whose names I remember are cardiologist Dr. Muthu Krishnan, nurses Taylor, Kathy, Joan and Beth. Techs: Lauren, Stephanie and Barb. Also Justin in physical therapy. The person who took care of my room was Paula. My thanks to this outstanding staff and facility.
