  • A replacement has signed up to run on the Democratic ticket in the Morgan County Treasurer's race.
Megan Vansell of Versailles filed to run just before the refiling period ended Thursday, June 5.
Filing for the office was reopened May 30 after the withdrawal of Democratic candidate Debbie Hutchison. She decided to leave the race due to unforeseen family medical issues.
The primary election is Aug. 5. With no other Democratic candidates, Vansell will go up against the winner of the Republican primary in the November general election.
The Republican candidates include incumbent Louella Pryor and challengers Steven Roy Trotter and Kimberly Gunn Ingersoll.
In other Morgan County elections this year, incumbent Presiding Commissioner Democrat James Vaughan will face Republican challenger James Bryant in November, and Republican Julia Crabtree will face incumbent Democrat Cathy Daniels for County Clerk. Lori Moon, Monica Cable and Nancy Bemboom have all filed for the Circuit Clerk position currently held by Cheryl Morris.
Associate Circuit Court Judge Kevin Schehr, a Republican, has filed for re-election and is being challenged by Republican Jeffrey E. Green.
Unchallenged incumbents in Morgan County seats up for election this year include Collector Kathy Francis, Prosecuting Attorney Dustin Dunklee and Recorder Nancy Boles.
