  • Captain Perry Graham, pilot of the ill-fated Grand Glaize excursion boat that capsized 60 years ago, was presented a Missouri House of Representatives Memorial Proclamation Resolution June 10 at his home in Kaiser.
The resolution memorialized the 60th anniversary of the Grand Glaize tragedy of May 28, 1954. It also specifically recognized the actions of the 18-year-old Graham as having saved the lives of two passengers aboard the vessel. Mystery surrounds the tragedy as six – and possibly eight – people drowned when the Grand Glaize was caught in a sudden, violent storm. There is no record that newly weds from Chicago were on the boat, and their bodies have never been recovered.
