  • Since incorporating as a not-for-profit organization in 2001, the Camdenton R-III School District Education Foundation, Inc. has been "Steering the Course for the Future" for students and teachers, and now welcomes two new board members to participate in that effort.
Sherri Harmon is a 1984 Camdenton alum and lifelong resident of the lake area. She has worked 26 years in the healthcare field as a Registered Nurse and as a Nurse Practitioner. Harmon currently sits on the committee for Young Life - Lake of the Ozarks. She and her husband Dennis have two sons. Jacob is a 2013 Camdenton graduate and is finishing his freshman year at Caltech. Joshua is a student at the Camdenton Middle School.
“I am excited to start serving on the Education Foundation Board,” Harmon said. “Assisting students and educators from our district, as they further the Laker tradition of academic excellence, will be an extreme honor.”
Matt Hamner is a 1994 Camdenton alum who received his undergraduate (1998) and law degrees (2001) from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Hamner currently serves in Camdenton Rotary Club, Laker Athletic Booster Board, and President of the 26th Circuit Bar Association. He and his wife Sherrie have two daughters:  Isabella who is completing second grade at Osage Beach Elementary, and Emery who will part of the first Kindergarten class at the new Osage Beach Elementary Fall 2015.
“Being a Laker is in my blood, and there is no association that I am prouder of than mine with the Camdenton School District,” Hamner said. “I hope to continue the excellent legacy of work of the Camdenton Education Foundation in promoting awareness of our amazing students and teachers, and helping to provide funding to both students and the school to ensure that we give our kids every opportunity to fulfill their dreams, just as this community did for me.”
In addition to awarding 87 graduating senior scholarships since its inception, the Camdenton Education Foundation has served as an important School District partner delivering supplemental funding for educational programs and activities aimed at broadening Camdenton students' and teachers' personal achievement.  The Foundation has also helped fund 13 classroom grants impacting more than 1,000 students across four campus facilities, in addition to providing Educator Scholarships to teachers as they endeavor toward advanced degrees in education.
