  • The City of Laurie is gearing up to host the Sleeper Lawn Tractor Pulling Association for a second annual event at the fairgrounds.
In a spinoff of the well-known full size tractor pull, a lawn tractor pull features proud owners and drivers of garden tractors or lawn mowers - minus their mowing decks - competing to see whose machine can pull the most weight.
Kids and adults can compete in various categories.
The Sleeper association is based out of the Lebanon area and consists of around 100 members.
For this association, the contests are only open to garden tractors with rubber tires. There are extended rules for what can and cannot be used in the contest, and rules define a garden tractor as a tractor having an electric motor or a 1 or 2 cylinder water or air cooled 4 cycle engine that is manufactured for garden tractors only. No motorcycle motors are allowed.
Come watch the family friendly event to see just how much these tiny but mighty tractors can haul.
The Laurie lawn tractor pull will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31. Admission is $5.
