  • The Camdenton Police Department is investigating an apparent homicide within the Camdenton city limits.
At 2:40 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Lakeview Drive near its intersection with Highway 54 to assist a woman who had suffered stab wounds.
Officers found the victim, 28-year-old Danielle Bell of St. Louis, downstairs. She was conscious at the time but according to a press release from the Camdenton Police Department, Bell "had suffered several stab wounds" that required emergency treatment.
Bell was transported by ambulance to a location suitable for a helicopter landing, but died before the transfer could be complete.
While on the scene, officers learned Bell had engaged in a verbal altercation with a black male subject. According to the press release, the male "was with her at the residence at the time she had been stabbed but left prior to officers arriving."
A statewide bulletin was issued and the subject was located near Osceola, Mo. He was taken into custody for questioning at 8:45 a.m. but as of 4 p.m., no charges had been filed.
Camdenton Police Chief Laura Wright said it is believed Bell was staying temporarily at the residence on Lakeview Drive when she died. Police have made contact with Bell's family and the investigation continues.
