  • It should come as no great shock that with a perfect record, three tournament championships and a district title, three Osage Indians tennis players walked away with individual district titles.
The three leaders of the team, all seniors, earned a trip to sectional play Friday night by claiming the district titles in singles and doubles action.
In singles action, Adam Keith, the number three player for the Indians and number two seed in the district tournament, didn't drop a single game en route to the championship match. Playing the top seed player from Marshall, Keith played smart.
He "played his usual steady, defensive game, frustrating his opponent," according to coach Scott Blacksher.
Keith won the championship by a score of 6-1, 6-4.
In doubles action, the top two players for Osage, seniors Thomas Uhl and Ryan Curran, paired up to dominate the district tournament.
Over the course of the tournament, Uhl and Curran dropped only four games over three matches, winning in the championship match 6-0, 6-1.
Also representing Osage at the tournament was Rowman Trowbridge at number two singles, and the number two doubles team of sophomores Jordan Wilson and Adam Schoening. Trowbridge played the longest match of the tournament losing in a two-hour "three setter", 4-6, 7-6(7-3), 2-6. Wilson, and Schoening fought hard against the number three seed losing 4-6, 2-6 in the first round.
The seniors will play one sectional match Tuesday in Marshall.
Osage will host the reigning state champion team from MICDS in team sectional play Saturday, May 24 at Country Club Resort and Spa. MICDS derailed Osage's bid at a team state title last year in the second round sectionals.
