  • An agreement between the Sunrise Beach and Moreau Fire Protection Districts will lead to a significant one-time savings for both districts.
The agencies have agreed to a bulk exchange of 1,000 feet of fire hose. The Sunrise Beach District will receive 1,000 feet of three inch hose in exchange for 1,000 feet of two and a half inch hose. “The three inch hose gives us a operational capability that is impossible to achieve with our existing two and half inch hose. With the amount of condos and apartment complexes in our response area this is very significant” says Sunrise Beach Chief Dennis Reilly.
The Sunrise Beach District will maintain enough two and half hose for firefighting operations but will dispose of its excess supply of two and half inch hose.
“As we reduce the size of apparatus fleet, we simply don’t need as much spare hose as we currently have," Reilly said. "Moreau needed two and half attack lines and had surplus three inch  hose when they converted over to five inch supply line. The exchange just made good sense and I would estimate it saved the tax payers well over a thousand dollars. If we can save money, not matter how much or how little I think we have an obligation to do so."
