  • Letter to the editor: ACA is elitist, not American

  • It bothers me to hear an academic like Dr. Mark Hopkins telling us to “move on with ‘Obamacare.’ I believe his remarks were, “the die is cast, decision is made, fait accompli, (a thing that has already happened or been decided before those affected hear about it, leaving them with no option but to accept), it’s over, done.

It bothers me to hear an academic like Dr. Mark Hopkins telling us to “move on with ‘Obamacare.’  I believe his remarks were, “the die is cast, decision is made, fait accompli, (a thing that has already happened or been decided before those affected hear about it, leaving them with no option but to accept), it’s over, done.  We don’t have enough time or mental energy to cry over spilled milk… move on.”  This is not an example of the American spirit but that of an elitist.
Elitists are members of the collective (a progressive term for socialism), whether they know it or not.  Remember the “Borg” in Star Trek, the Next Generation?  These were humans technologically connected to the “One” thus becoming humanoids.  Their famous phrases were, “compliance is necessary” and my all time favorite, “resistance is futile.”  This is what we are dealing with in our government today.  Elitists don’t see us, they see thru us, we don’t matter.  That’s because they do not believe in individual liberties, individual freedoms and individual responsibilities.  They believe they know best what is good for us.  We couldn’t possibly make our own decision or be responsible for them.  They believe their utopian idea is wanted by everyone, or should be.  It would never occur to them that someone's idea of the perfect life would be different.
An example of elitism is found in the Affordable Health Care Act ACA.  This new health care law calls the American Citizen a “unit” not a patients in portions of the law.  The ACA was created, not to give us affordable healthcare but, to control a large population.  About 70% of revenues collected covers administrative costs.  It has been a lie since its inception.  It was passed on partisan party line politics, not the politics of and by The People.  The only way Chief Justice Roberts could appease the president was to declare the ACA a tax even though in oral argument those defending the law argued that the ACA was not a tax but was constitutional under the commerce clause.   SCOTUS did not declare this law constitutional but a tax.  In the final brief, he states that the federal government could not force citizens to purchase a particular commodity or service, but it does have the power to tax.  This law was never constitutional.  In Article 1, section 8, clause 18 of our Constitution states, “The Congress shall have the Power to .. make all laws…”  Which means those same laws are also required to be amended by the same congress.  Article 1, section 7, clause 1 states, “All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives;”  Yet this president has by executive order altered, exempted, rewritten this law at his whim bypassing congress and thus the electorate.  This is not a constitutional law but an act of defiance against the majority of the citizens of this nation and was accomplished not through compromise but appeasement, a way of nullifying a portion of our Constitution.  This is how socialists force through policies in order to gain unwarranted control of a government and oppress its people.  Do you wonder why they can’t tell us who has paid policies from the 7 million who enrolled into the health care system?  Because you have to enroll in order to view your options, the price, the benefits, who can be covered and the out of pocket expenses.  Enrollment is not an officially paid up policy.
Page 2 of 2 - Many who do not qualify for subsidies are being forced into Medicaid.  Medicaid was designed to assist low-income individuals.  Their is federal law that states if someone receives services through the medicaid program but their income is more than is allowed, they have to pay it back.  That means liens on private property when you try to sell or if someone passes away.  This will benefit not only the federal government but the State government revenues as well.
This is not what our Founding is about.  In America, the government was designed as the servant of the people, not their master.  The American revolutionaries did not shed their blood for the welfare state.  No ruling class has the power to infringe upon the rights of the individual.  When  a government attempts to do this we will vigorously reject it.
