  • The dive efforts to recover the body of 20-year-old Jaspreet Kaur of Springfield, Mo. have been suspended as of May 7. Witnesses say they saw Kaur jump from the Lake of the Ozarks Community bridge around noon on Monday.
Since the incident, Lake Ozark Police and the Missouri Highway Patrol have been investigating the apparent death of the Springfield woman.
Upon arrival to the accident scene on Monday, officers found a white passenger vehicle parked on the bridge without a driver or passengers.  According to witnesses seated at outdoor dining facilities near the bridge, it is believed that a female  subject with long black hair climbed over the rail. Witnesses report seeing the woman fall from the bridge into the water.  The female surfaced briefly but then went back under the water.  An immediate search by Lake Ozark Fire Protection District and Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division was conducted with the MSHP Dive Team being dispatched to the area.
Divers did not find the woman's body during the immediate search effort.
Based on a note discovered in the vehicle, the incident is believed to be a suicide.  Additional information will be released once a recovery is made and next of kin notified.  The recovery efforts are being conducted by the MSHP Water Division.
The Camden County Sheriff's Department, Osage Beach Fire Protection District and Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District all responded for assistance.
Surface efforts will continue. Patrolmen will be on the lookout for the body until a recovery is made.
