John Kerry has become unglued. First came his decision to compare Israel to the white Apartheid government in South Africa. Then, when he was rightfully called out for an undiplomatic and downright offensive comparison that is just plain false, Kerry lashed out against “partisan political” attacks against him.  Problem is that the “partisan political” criticism is coming from groups like AIPAC and that far right winger Barbara Boxer. In fact, based upon the e-mail flurry that circulates in the Jewish community, the outrage against Kerry has united Jews across the spectrum in an extreme;y bi-partisan howl of justified fury. And as was noted, Kerry’s response to this bipartisan howl reeks of anti-semitism. In fact, he blamed everyone but the Elders of Zion for being out to get him.

And Kerry’s outburst wasn’t the only example that the wheels are coming off the Obama foreign policy bus. In what has to be one of the weirdest episodes in American political history, Barry Obama, fresh from undercutting what little credibility the US has left in Asia (after he’s scattered new red lines all over the place that everyone now knows can safely be ignored), took advantage of some media coverage while in the Philippines to lash out at his political enemies who have accused him of being weak and ineffective in terms of foreign policy. First of all, bad move to air the dirty laundry overseas. But second, and much like Kerry, Barry seems not to understand that the criticism of his handling of foreign affairs has become a broadly, bipartisan consensus.

Oh, god, spare us any further images of Samantha Powers claiming to speak for America at the UN!

It is heartening that in South Korea the prime minister resigned over a ferry disaster. Maybe now Barry can resign over the avalanche in Washington state, shamefully taking full responsibility for his failure to impose avalanche control by Executive Order.

But whatever else happens, it should be pretty clear that not only is John Kerry ineffective, but that he also lacks the temperment and skill to be America’s diplomat in chief.  His continuous and brutal assault on Israeli security is simply baffling, while he continues to give aid and comfort to America’s enemies. And his inability to apologize for his shortcomings reflects a superego that cannot be subsumed to America’s interests.

While it would be nice if Barry decides to stay in Asia for good, Kerry should do Barry and this country a big favor by resigning as Secretary of State.
