Pastor Rick Bell of New Hope Lutheran Church in Laurie recently spent a week in Honduras following his calling of traditional missionary work. He along with a team from Birmingham, Ala. arrived in a mountainous area called Pena Blanca. The team got busy with different projects while Rick went on to lead meetings with local pastors and leaders — many of whom have very little resources and very big struggles.
"It was awesome to see so many pastors and leaders affected and set free by the Gospel. They, like many in the U.S., had been weakened into a religious routine. But God is bringing power into lives through the rediscovery of grace and all that's included for in Jesus Christ," Bell said.
The highlight of the trip was that two people got saved — a teacher in a village and a driver for the team. Several people received prayers for physical healing.
"We prayed for many in China where we did meetings like this, and saw some healed immediately. Others we heard about later that they eventually got it," commented Bell, who believes that the people of the village in Honduras will indeed be healed.
Bell is an author, speaker, teacher and minister and served in China for 18 years prior to returning to the U.S. He and wife Jennifer and children Mathew, Ryan and MaryBeth lived in the Camdenton area. For more information, see his website at http://www.ricksbell.com.
