  • Motorists entering Osage Beach from the west side of the lake area have noticed construction equipment and orange cones lining what once was the Key Largo intersection. Currently the intersection is a construction site.
The intersection has been closed since April 8 for improvements. The closure is to allow APEC-Missouri crews to revamp the intersection to improve safety, visibility and access to Osage Beach Parkway. The acceleration ramp from Key Largo onto the eastbound lanes of the Expressway be improved, and the exit ramp from the Expressway onto Key Largo will be made “softer” to lessen the angle of the curve onto the Parkway.
According to MoDOT's Bob Lynch, the improvements are 'going well' and are on track to re-open on May 8. Lynch told the Lake Sun that asphalt was being laid down on Wednesday.
"Weather has been good so they are on schedule," Lynch added.
Lynch also said that Key Largo is designed to be the entrance into Osage Beach on the west side of the city. There will be a new welcome sign and lights for nighttime motorists added soon, as well.
Lynch added that the city is hopeful the new sign will attract travelers to the parkway.
