  • Brandon Heizer caught this monster catfish April 17 off the Heizer’s dock located on Horseshoe Bend.
He and his friend Jordan Davis just arrived to the lake from St. Louis.
They threw the line in and within 20 minutes Brandon’s rod was getting pulled off the dock.
Brandon took a flying leap at the rod and just grabbed it in time as it got caught on the swim ladder on the dock.
He started reeling it in but the line kept going out, he did not want to set the drag to tight so the line wouldn’t break.
The fish finally slowed down and he was working into the dock very carefully.
After about 20 minutes of fighting, Brandon got the fish to the dock.
When Jordan grabbed the dip net, which was smaller then the fish, the dip net ripped and the fish got out.
Jordan crashed onto the dock to grab the monster catfish by the tail while it was in the water.
The fish was heavy and awkward for him to lift it onto the dock alone, Brandon held on to the rod and laid down on the dock with his free hand grabbed the fish by the mouth.
Brandon and Jordan both dragged the fish onto the dock.
All of the Heizer’s scales only go up to 25 pounds. The group had no way of holding fish properly to weight it.
After several videos and pictures, the fish was released unharmed back into the lake.
The excitement of catching a big monster fish here at the Lake of the Ozarks is the best feeling.
Watching two teenagers fighting and screaming to bring in the fish was just as exciting for Brandon’s parents as it is for both Brandon and Jordan.
