A man formerly of Sunrise Beach will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the sodomy, rape and molestation of a child.

Timothy Wayne Register, 49, was sentenced on April 17 to 90 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. Register was found guilty following a two-day trial in July 2013 of statutory sodomy in the first degree, statutory rape in the first degree and two counts of felony child molestation.

The evidence at trial established that between the years of 1996 and 2005, Register sexually molested and forcibly raped the victim on numerous occasions.

Circuit Court Judge Stan Moore sentenced Register to 25 years for the sodomy charge, 25 years for the statutory rape, 15 years for the first count of child molestation and 25 years for the second count of child molestation. All four sentences were ordered to be served consecutively.

"Mr. Register was held accountable for destroying the life of an innocent child victim," Morgan County Prosecuting Attorney Dustin Dunklee said in a press release. "My hope is that this sentence will serve as a deterrent to those that victimize children in our community.

Register was originally scheduled for sentencing on Oct. 17, 2013, but prior to the court date, he removed his court-ordered GPS bracelet, which was later recovered in Eldon. A no bond capias warrant out of Morgan County for failure to obey a judge's order, signed by Moore, was issued for Register on Oct. 14, 2013.

With the nature of the charges against Register, an alert was issued by the Missouri Information Analysis Center and the U.S. Marshal's Service provided assistance to Morgan County on the case.

Register fled the lake area and was a fugitive for more than two months before being captured in Bend, Ore. on Jan. 21.

According to a press release from the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, the Bend Police Department had received a phone call from a bondsman out of Missouri in reference to a possible phone number for Register.

After confirming the warrant with Morgan County, Bend police officers got a warrant to get the location of the phone number in question from the phone company. It was found to be located at a motel in the city.

With the assistance of the Dechutes County, Ore. Sheriff's Office, Bend police officers placed a surveillance detail on the motel room in question, then obtained a warrant for the motel room on the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 21.

As Register exited the room Tuesday morning, he was approached by Bend Police officers and Dechutes County Sheriff's Office deputies and K-9 unit and taken into custody.

Once arrested by the Bend Police Department and Dechutes County Sheriff's Office, Register was placed in the Dechutes County Detention Center in Oregon until an extradition hearing. Register was then extradited back to Morgan County.
