  • Spring is the perfect time to get outside and get moving. Here’s a list of upcoming 5Ks in the lake area.
     
    Run for the Children
    The second annual Miller County Child Advocacy Council half-marathon and 5K on April 26. All proceeds go to assist the children in Miller County. The race starts at 7 a.m. Packets must be picked up between 6-6:45 a.m. Special medals will be given to the top three finishers in each age group. The awards ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the Pocket Park located near the finish line on Maple Street. Cost for the half-marathon is $50 through March 31, or $60 from April 1-25. The 5K is $20 until March 31, or $30 after.

    Safety Event 5K Run/Walk
    The Lake Ozark Police Department is hosting it's first annual Safety Event 5K Run/Walk on April 26. Registration begins at 6 p.m. with the run/walk starting at 9 p.m. Registration will be in the parking lot of the Lake Ozark Christian Church. Barbecue will be available after the event and there will be booths with bicycle safety, fire safety, stranger awareness and more. All money will go to the Lake Ozark Police Benevolent Association for use in the operations of the association business such as Shop with a Cop, Christmas and Thanksgiving baskets, officer training, equipment and other needs.
     
    5K Fun Run/Walk for Lake Regional
    Lake Regional’s 7th annual 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held on May 3. The walk will be from 7:30-9 a.m., beginning at the main entrance of the hospital. Early bird registration for runners is $20, then will be $25. Check-in will begin at 7 a.m. in parking lot A in front of the Lake Regional Medical Office building. The 5K Run begins at 7:30 a.m. and will follow a course around the hospital campus and down Osage Beach Parkway. Fun Walk participants will stay on the hospital campus and may start walking immediately after the run begins. Participants will compete in six age categories and awards will be given to first through third place. Registration includes a T-shirt. Proceeds benefit Lake Regional Cardiac Rehab.     Rockin’ Wellness 5K/10K
    Rockin’ Wellness 5K/10K competitive run will begin at 8 a.m. at the Versailles High School on May 3. A 2-mile casual walk will begin at 8:15 a.m. and a 1/2-mile kids fun run will be held at 9:30 a.m. Awards will be presented to the first male and femal efinisher in the 5K/10K. A medal will be given to first place in each age division in the 5K, 10K and 1/2-mile run. Entry fee is $30 for all events. All proceeds go to the Citizens for Health and Wellness program.     5K Spring Color Run/Walk for the Eldon Student Council
    Eldon High School Student Council’s second annual 5K Spring Color Run/Walk will be held May 3 starting at the Eldon Career Center. Race time is 8 a.m. and day-of registration is from 7:15-7:45 a.m. Early registration cost is $25 or $30 after April 25th. Register early to be guaranteed a T-shirt. This is not a timed event and there will be color zones during the race and a color explosion after the race. For a registration form go to www.cityofeldonmissouri.com.
     
    The Lady Laker Basketball Club 5K/10K
    The Lady Laker Basketball Club will host a 5K/10K run and a 5K walk at the Linn Creek City Park on May 10. Proceeds will go to support the team’s 2015 season. The walk/run starts at 8:30 a.m. with race-day registration at 7:30 a.m. Entry fees are $20 for those who register by April 26, and $25 after. T-shirts are guaranteed for pre-registered participants.     Ta-Ta-Trot
    On May 10 the Ta-Ta-Trot will be held at the Department of Public Safety Building in Eldon. The 5K run/walk starts after a balloon release at 8 a.m. Race-day registration will be open from 7-7:45 a.m. Register before April 25 to be guaranteed a T-shirt and cost is $15. Medals will be awarded to top overall male/female finishers.
     
    1st Blue Ribbon 5K Run/Walk for Concerns of Police Survivors
    The first annual Blue Ribbon 5K Run/Walk sponsored by Concerns of Police Survivors will be held Saturday, May 31, at Linn Creek City Park.
    The race will begin at 9 a.m., with registration open at 7:30 a.m. Pre-registration deadline is May 16.
    Awards will be given for first, second and third in all age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over.
    Pre-registration cost is $20 with race-day cost of $25. There is a discount for families of three or more.
