  • Days after the April election, the Mid County Fire Protection Board swore in the newly elected members.
Incumbent Charles McElyea and newcomer Jeremy Rugen got right to work during the board's April meeting held on Thursday night.
McElyea will continue to serve as the board's chairman with Gary Cuendet as Vice-Chair. Mike High who most recently served as the Treasurer will now serve as the secretary with Rugen as treasurer.
The board certified the election results including the approval of a 12 cent levy increase.
The district has seen some turnover in the last few months. Former Fire Marshall Chris Bachman's position has yet to be filled and there is now a new vacancy. Sue Chatham recently resigned as the district's administrative assistant.
Chief Scott Frandsen asked the board to allow him to begin the search in order to fill both positions whose salaries were already budgeted for the upcoming fiscal year.
The board authorized Frandsen's request and now the search begins.
