  • Lake Regional Hospital and Imaging Center patients now have access to a new Patient Portal. The interactive web portal provides secure, convenient access to health information for patients who have had a test or procedure at either location.
Using Lake Regional Health System’s Patient Portal, patients can view their medical record, including laboratory and radiology results, medications, allergies, demographic information, visit history and discharge information. Patients also can request updates to their contact information.
“The Patient Portal empowers patients and their families to take a more active role in their health care,” said Jane DeSpiegelaere, Lake Regional Health Information Management director. “Patients can view their information and request changes, if needed. They also can download and share their records with physicians outside of Lake Regional’s medical group. This will ensure all providers caring for a patient are working from the same set of information, making care safer and more efficient.”
Lake Regional’s Patient Portal allows patients to track their appointments online. With authorized consent, caregivers also may access the medical records of individuals for whom they manage care, such as a minor child or senior adult.
Email notifications alert users to any new activity on their portal, such as test results or appointments.
“We are encouraging all of our patients to enroll,” DeSpiegelaere said. “This is a valuable opportunity for patients and their families to actively participate in their care, which contributes to better health.”
Beginning in April, a representative of the HIM department will visit patients admitted to the hospital to provide education about the portal. Representatives also will be available by phone to answer questions and help individuals enroll.
“Patients who provide their email address will be sent a secure, one-time use username and password,” DeSpiegelaere said. “Using this information, they can login to the site, create their own username and password, and begin using the various features.”
In 2012, Lake Regional Medical Group launched a portal for clinic patients that has resulted in increased communication and efficiency.
“Now, we’re hoping to achieve the same results for patients receiving care through the hospital,” DeSpiegelaere said.
Patients may access both portals on the Lake Regional Health System website at lakeregional.com/patientportal.
