  • The King’s Academy hosts open house

  • Parents, students and members of the community will get an opportunity to meet teachers and view curriculum materials at The King’s Academy Open Forum at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Lake Ozark.
    Parents can view powerpoint presentations and talk with teachers about their educational philosophies and academic goals. The public is welcome, especially parents looking for a sound academic and Christ-centered education for their young children.
    Seventy-four students are currently enrolled in the King’s Academy which will be adding third grade this fall to its preschool – second grade. Small class sizes encourage individualized care. The Academy also offers hot lunches, playground facilities, a security system, and a Before and After-Care Program. Music, art and physical education are part of the curriculum. Smartboard technology is used in all elementary grade classrooms. The school is currently undergoing the accreditation process for the National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA) and the Missouri Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (MNSAA).
    Elaine Lehenbauer serves as administrator of The King’s Academy and has served as a teacher and/or director of the school for the last eleven years. She has previous experience as an elementary teacher in three other Lutheran schools.
    Pam Lobosky will teach kindergarten again this year. She has a master’s degree in education and has taught preschool and elementary as well as middle school grades.
    Amy Jordan will again teach first grade. She has a bachelor’s degree in education and early childhood . A new teacher is being hired for a combined second/third class.
    Registration is open now for the 2014 -2015 school year. The Academy is located in Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 Bagnell Dam Blvd., Lake Ozark. For more information about The King’s Academy call 573-365-5212 or 573-693-9245.
