Served in the U.S. Air Force
Frederick Nelson Baker, age 72, of Camdenton, Missouri, departed this life Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at his home in Camdenton.
Nelson, as he was known, was born November 3, 1941 in Lutzville, Missouri, the son of Charles August and Joy Harriett (Shell) Baker.
He was united in marriage January 6, 1962 in Chaffee, Missouri to Joyce Long, and together they shared 52 years of marriage.
Nelson served his country proudly in the United States Air Force.
Nelson made a career working as a cable splicer for AT&T for 32 years. Among his many interests, Nelson enjoyed woodworking and listening to bluegrass music. Everyone who knew Nelson knew the warmth of his heart by the smile on his face, his pat on your back, his big bear hug or how he greeted everyone with a fond “Hey Bud”. Whether you remember him camping, or out puttering around on the tractor or in his wood working shop, or handing out bulletins at church, probably depends on when you knew him best. At the lake, many people will remember him as a permanent fixture on the bleachers of the Camdenton ballpark, either cheering his grandson or his favorite team, the Warriors. He was the Warriors biggest fan! He loved WWII movies, sweets of any kind, kids of all ages and good ol’ dogs. And we loved him more than he can ever know. He was a loving husband, father, Papa and friend to so many. He touched our hearts in the way he was always there for us. He will be missed, and always remembered.
Nelson was a member of Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church.
Nelson is survived by his loving wife Joyce of the home; his daughter Victoria Lee Baker-Kuhn and husband, Rick, of Osage Beach, Missouri; two brothers, Virgil N. Baker and wife, Mary, of St. Peters, Missouri and Charlie N. Baker and wife, Wanda, of Franklin, N. Carolina; two sisters, Evaleen Francis of Warrenton, Missouri and Dorothy White of Scott City, Missouri; three grandchildren Kristen Jill Kuhn, Cara Lee Thornton , and Cody Austin Kuhn; one great-granddaughter Emma Lee Thornton; along with several nieces and nephews and many friends.
