  • Macks Creek freshmen selected for Naval Academy science program

  • Xabier Montez, a freshman at Macks Creek High School, has been accepted to the 2014 United States Naval Academy Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) summer session.

  • Xabier Montez, a freshman at Macks Creek High School, has been accepted to the 2014 United States Naval Academy Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) summer session. Montez was accepted based on his academic merit, extra-curricular involvement, and desire to pursue a career in a STEM field.
    He will travel to Washington, D.C. this June to participate in the STEM program. He is one of approximately 250 freshmen nationwide that was accepted to participate in this program. While at the academy, campers from diverse backgrounds and from around the country will participate in a wide range of activities, including: optimizing hull design, building circuits, visiting the biometrics lab, cryptography, 3D simulation, storm chasing, the physics of light, robotics, and much more.
