  • The Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri in cooperation with the Missouri Foundation for Health has announced the award of two grants to Morgan County Food pantries. Both grants were awarded as a result of a competitive process that included food pantries throughout the territory served by the Food Bank.
The grant awarded to Food for Morgan County will be used to purchase and install a walk-in cooler in their warehouse which is located in Versailles.  This cooler will enable the group to safely store donations of refrigerated items including produce and dairy products.  Providing these type of items will greatly improve the nutritional value of the food distributed to needy families at the monthly food distribution.
Food for Morgan County has been providing a monthly distribution since December of 2011 on the first Tuesday of the month at the Family Worship Center located at 1000 Jones Street in Versailles.  The distribution is held from 1-6 p.m. and serves any resident of Morgan County who needs food.
Funds received by the Ivy Bend Food Pantry will be applied toward a building project that is expected to break ground sometime this year.
