  • The Berry Best Book Club has just began celebrating the beginning its 15th year of discussing great books once a month.
This month’s meeting is at 1:30 p.m., March 16, at the Yankee Peddler Tea Room.
If you would like to attend the book club, please give Yankee Peddler Tea Room a call at (573)348-5045 and make your lunch reservation today.
It is now relocated into Main Street in Poverty Flats‚ but it is this restaurant that has hosted the Berry Best Book Club for the last 14 years.
Pick up the March selection, “Flight Behavior,” by Barbara Kingsolver.  Kingsolver is not new to the book club as it has previously shared her book, “The Poisonwood Bible,” back in 2000.  That was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
Dellarobia Turnbow is a restless farm wife who discovers a close by lake of fire — the Monarch butterflies.
The club will discuss climate change, family dynamics, and Monarch butterflies.  Kingsolver is not only a writer, but she has a degree in biology and has worked as a scientist.
If you can’t attend on March 16, plan to join the club on April 13, second Sunday, due to Easter.
The selection for that meeting will be “Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker” by Jennifer Chiaverini.
In this historical novel, Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley, a gifted seamstress, was born a slave, but earned her freedom and the friendship of First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln.
The club will take a glimpse into the past with “Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker.”
We have enjoyed Chiaverini before when we read “The Christmas Quilt and The New Year’s Quilt.” She has a long list of quilt books that might interest you and your friends.
This club is not like other club members. Jan Berry does all the presentation work, and you just set back and enjoy talking about the book with your new fellow reader friends.
The Berry Best Book Club welcomes everyone to join their fellowship of readers and enjoy an afternoon of food, fun, and a great book discussion.
Read Flight Behavior and come to this book discussion. Bring your company and friends on March 16.
Remember, at this Berry Best Book Club, we're new friends you just haven't met yet.  We'll be saving you a seat.  See you at Yankee Peddler Tea Room.
