  • The next meeting of the Berry Best Book Club, celebrating the beginning of its 15th year, is coming soon. Join them at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at Yankee Peddler Tea Room in Osage Beach.
Pick up their March selection - "Flight Behavior" by Barbara Kingsolver - to join in the discussion.
Barbara is not new to the book club as they previously shared her book "The Poisonwood Bible" back in 2000. That was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
She is an awesome writer and club members can’t wait to discuss "Flight Behavior."
Dellarobia Turnbow is a restless farm wife who discovers a close by lake of fire – the Monarch butterflies. This is a very complex story, and the club will be taking on the book's themes of climate change, family dynamics and Monarch butterflies. Kingsolver is not only a writer, but she has a degree in biology and has worked as a scientist.
If you would like to attend the book club meeting March 16, give Yankee Peddler Tea Room a call at 573-348-5045 and make your lunch reservation.  It is now located at Main Street in Poverty Flats‚ but it is this restaurant that has hosted the Berry Best Book Club for the last 14 years.
If you can’t join them on March 16, make plans to participate at their Sunday, April 13 meeting when they will be discussing "Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker" by Jennifer Chiaverini.
In this historical novel, Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley, a gifted seamstress, was born a slave, but earned her freedom and the friendship of First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln. The club has enjoyed Chiaverini before when members read "The Christmas Quilt" and "The New Year’s Quilt." She has a long list of quilt books that might interest you and your friends.
This club is not like other clubs. Jan Berry does all the presentation work, and you just set back and enjoy talking about the book with your new fellow reader friends.
The Berry Best Book Club welcomes everyone to join their fellowship of readers and enjoy an afternoon of food, fun and a great book discussion.
