After a difficult winter for outdoor construction, the weather finally permitted concrete work to proceed for the construction of the Walter Sokoll Memorial Building. The site of the new building lies between Hope Lutheran Chapel and KRMS radio station in Osage Beach.
During his lifetime, Walter Sokoll was a member of Hope Lutheran Chapel, and he established a trust directing that all of his estate should go to Hope Lutheran Chapel with provisions that Hope Chapel would build a building to house multipurpose functions of the church and a senior center to provide activities and meals to seniors in the area including meals-on-wheels.
Now that the weather is cooperating with the construction schedule, progress should be rapid. The expectation is that this summer, the Osage Beach Senior Center, Inc. will begin serving meals and the members of Hope Lutheran Chapel will start using the facility for its various purposes. In addition, the building will be available for such activies as wedding receptions, reunions, community functions and the like.
Dan Mills of Architecture & Engineering Consultants designed the building and his associate, Kurt Flickinger, is the project manager. The general contractor is Construction Concepts Corporation.
