  • The Camden County Extension has announced its annual Journey to Windermere, an effort to enable at least 50 local 4-H members to participate in the summer camp experience.
Last year, 25 4-H’ers participate in camp from the lake area, and the goal is to increase that to 50 this year. However, funding for scholarships is needed for that to happen, Extension officials say. Donations of $75-$100 would enable a family to send two children.
According to Michele Kroll, youth development specialist at Camden County Extension, there are 279 local 4-H members and about 140-plus volunteers. The cost for the three-day camp at Windermere is $130 per child.
This year’s goal is to raise $6,000. There are several sponsorship levels: Charter Member and Event Sponsors -- $1,000; Gold Sponsor and Charter Member -- $650; Platinum Sponsor and Charter Member -- $500.
Any donation will be accepted, however.
Tax deductible donations can be made to Camden County University of Missouri Extension, 44 Roofener St., PO Box 1405, Camdenton, MO 65020.
