Mid County Fire Protection District responded to a fire in the 8400 block of South State Highway 7 near the intersection of Mill Creek Road on March 9 around 3:22 p.m.

First arriving units found a detached garage fully involved in fire and the structure was collapsing on arrival.

The fire spread to the adjacent woods and then to a neighboring hay field. The brush fire consumed approximately 25 acres and destroyed approximately 30 round hay bales.

Units were able to stop the fire before it reached several homes on Mill Creek Road and Michael Road. The fire is believed to have started when a trash fire spread to the garage. Mid County responded with two engines, three tankers and two brush trucks. They were assisted on the scene by an engine from the Camdenton Fire Department.

The garage and all contents were a total loss. There were no injuries. One Mid County Engine became stuck in mud and had to be pulled out with a wrecker. All units cleared the scene at 6:11 p.m.
