  • Kenneth Conrad Mueller currently of Gravois Mills, MO, formally of Kansas City and St. Louis MO, passed away on February 17, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.
    Ken was born in St. Louis, MO on December 4, 1937 to Christoph J. and Corinne F. Mueller (nee Netzer). He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, June Grundmann; and his first wife, Darleen F. Mueller (nee Horton). After graduating from Beaumont High School, Ken received his BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
    Ken is survived by his present wife, Peggy Ellerbusch Mueller, (nee Horton); his daughter , Susan Fitzpatrick of Pleasant Hill, MO; his son, Chris Mueller and wife Vicki of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, Bradley Mueller, Alex Mueller, Zachary Fitzpatrick and Taylor Fitzpatrick. In addition to the Mueller and Netzer family members who survive, Ken married into a large loving family twice and is survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who loved him and miss him.
    Ken joined the Northside YMCA in St. Louis when he was 8 years old. While serving on the board of the branch of the YMCA in St. Louis, MO he worked with many local civic organizations. He also served on the International YMCA committee traveling to South American. In 2001 he received the prestigious YMCA J. Clinton Hawkins Award. Ken was a registered professional engineer and worked for 38 years for Continental Water Company in Independence, MO and St. Louis County Water Company, retiring in January 2000.
    Ken most enjoyed the times spent with his children and grandchildren, 4th of July family reunions at Lake of the Ozarks, fishing at Montauk, Bennett Springs, Canada, and just off the dock. He loved golf and traveling. Ken & Darleen made lasting friendships during these travels.
    Ken had many blessings during his lifetime but the one that he treasured the most was his deep personal relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
    A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 4:00 p.m., Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, 184 Sunset Hill Drive, Sunrise Beach, MO 65079. A light meal will be provided by the ladies of the church following the service.
    A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., St. John’s UCC, 15370 Olive Blvd., Chesterfield, MO. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.at the church. Burial will be at St Peter’s Cemetery, 2101 Lucas & Hunt Road, St. Louis, MO following the service.
    In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Darleen F. Mueller Memorial Fund for Children or the Mid-County branch of the St. Louis YMCA. Donations will be accepted at the churches. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Buchholz-Matt Hermann Mortuaries, Chesterfield, MO.
