James “Jimmie” Dale Sickal, 75, of Chesterfield, Missouri, entered into rest on February 14, 2014. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side. Services will be held at 1pm Saturday, March 1, 2014, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1010 N. Main St. in Sikeston, Missouri. Burial will follow at East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery on Hwy 80 in East Prairie, Missouri.

Born February 25, 1938 in Clarence, Missouri, the son of George Delbert and Loma Lavon Sickal, Jim graduated from Clarence High School in 1955. He attended the University of Missouri Columbia and was a member of the Phi Delta Phi and Pi Sigma Alpha academic fraternities and Phi Gamma Delta social fraternity. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1962. While in school, he served as the Revising Editor of the Law Review.

After Law school he served in the US Army JAG Corps. He also practiced in the U.S. District Courts of Missouri, the Missouri Courts of Appeal, and the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. He later setup his own practice and served as Municipal Judge in Sikeston and City Attorney for the cities of Crocker and St. Robert. In 2012 he received a "Special Counselor" award from the Missouri Bar for being an active member for over 50 years and finally retired in 2013. His interests included golf and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Carla Chaney; two sons, Greg Sickal of Campbell, California and Jamie Sickal of Sikeston; stepdaughter Laura Limbaugh of Chesterfield; grandsons Thomas Ira and Andrew Finch Atkins of Columbia; grandson James Sickal, granddaughter Megan Sickal of Sikeston; and granddaughter Olivia Limbaugh of Chesterfield. He was preceded in death by his daughter Tamara Gail Atkins and sister Patsy Harvey.
