  • Lake Regional Wound Healing Center will host a Wound Fair this month for health care professionals, including community nurses.
     The free event is 12 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, and 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan 24, at Lake Regional Hospital in the third floor conference rooms.
     Booths will be on display throughout the fair showcasing the latest wound healing techniques and specialty supplies.
     In addition, speakers are scheduled throughout the two-day event on the following topics: advanced wound dressings; trauma wounds; advanced VAC application; peripheral arterial disease; pressure ulcers; hyperbaric oxygen; and diabetic Charcot foot. Visit lakeregional.com/events for presentation schedules. The peripheral arterial disease session qualifies as a continuing medical education activity.
     “Proper wound care can mean the difference between amputation and saving a limb,” said Laurie Lowther, R.N., Lake Regional Wound Healing Center director. “The Wound Fair is an opportunity for area health care professionals to continue their education on wound and patient care.”
