Bruce Springsteen
The writers of this blog are not music critics, and they don't consider a second (or third, fourth or fifth) mortgage to be a perfectly reasonable course of action to pay for front-row tickets, but despite being a whole lot more middle aged than they were when they first put \x34Born in the U.S.A.\x34 or \x34The River\x34 down on the turntable, still feels like Bruce has something -- OK, a lot of things -- to say about our country and the way we live our lives, things that not a lot of other artists are saying. And whether he's talking about the knife that can cut this pain from your heart, the house that's waiting for you to walk in or what that flag flying over the courthouse means, he's nailing down feelings that are so universal that they can raise your spirits and break your heart at the same time. Plus, let¹s face it, the man rocks.

Charlie: “Hello fellow tramps… I’ve got more shots, but I’m on a job … So, here’s what I found on my laptop.”

When we asked people to share shots of their Springsteen collections, we knew we’d be impressed – but man, these are some real doozies! We’re talking pretty hefty levels of Brucedom going on out there, as you’ll see from these samples from just a small sliver of the Springsteen fanbase. We’ve included the contributors’ own words about their collections, and make sure to click on the thumbnails to see them in their full glory.

As you’ll be able to see when you view them, picking the “best” is basically an impossible task — so instead, we’ll be choosing two contributors at random and awarding them a “Bruuuce” T-shirt courtesy of E Street Clothing Co.  (If we ask real nice, we’re hoping the winners will send us a picture in their new Springsteen T that we’ll post here.) And remember, through Jan. 19 E Street Clothing is donating $2 for every shirt sold  to the Light of Day Foundation.

Speaking of which, if you’ll be the Light of Day concerts this weekend — where who knows, you may see a certain “special guest” turn up — we want to see those photos too! Email them to blognessontheedgeoftown@gmail.com.
