  • Following the Jan. 9 Mid County Fire Protection Board meeting, the board and staff hosted a farewell reception for Fire Marshal and Deputy Chief Chris Bachman. His resignation from the district is effective Jan. 15.
Bachman has accepted the position of Deputy Chief of the Pike Township Fire Department in Indianapolis. His new position will be the Deputy Chief in charge of the Pike Township Fire Department's Support Services Division which includes Code Enforcement, Inspections, Fleet Management and Firefighter Health and Safety.
Bachman was brought on board in September 2004 as the district's Fire Marshal.
Around that time, MCFPD had decided to adopt and enforce fire codes. During the Jan. 9 meeting, Bachman officially gave his resignation to the board which they accepted reluctantly.
The board wished Bachman well and let him know he would be missed.
