Before embarking on Christmas vacation, ten Camdenton Middle school students competed in the first ever CMS Christmas Idol singing competition.
Twenty-eight students tried out for the competition at the beginning of the week.
Then on Friday, Dec. 20 the top ten performed in front of the entire student body.
The panel of judges was led by Amanda Fall who also screened the applicants for the top ten. The six member panel was made up of two Bel Cantos students, two teachers, Amanda Fall and an administrator.
According to Principal Paula Brown, all the students were fantastic including the audience.
"The student body was so great and respectful. They really supported each performer. I was so proud of them," Brown said.
Avery Brownell walked away the winner. Samaria Arnold was the honorable mention. Presley Puig took third place while Jayden Steward placed second.
