  • Lake Regional Health System recently donated more than 8,400 cans of food to local food pantries and charities to help families in need during the holidays.
The health system-wide canned food drive began Dec. 2 with Lake Regional’s Kids’ Christmas Party at Miner Mike’s. Lake Regional employees’ children and grandchildren contributed, donating cans in exchange for game tokens courtesy of Miner Mike’s.
Hospital, clinic and pharmacy food drives took place on Dec. 6 and Dec. 9.
“Lake Regional is here for our community in many ways,” said Michael E. Henze, CEO of Lake Regional Health System. “I am proud to be part of an organization whose members care so deeply for those we serve.”
The canned food drive concluded Dec. 10 with deliveries to six local agencies: Citizens Against Domestic Violence, Helping Hands Homeless Shelter and Lamb House in Camdenton; the Community Food Pantry in Eldon; Hope House in Lake Ozark; and Share the Harvest Food Pantry in Greenview.
The same agencies received more than 204 turkeys donated by Lake Regional employees.
Henze recognized the three departments/clinics that contributed the most items per employee — Lake Regional Clinic – Macks Creek, Public Relations and Lake Regional Cancer Center — during the health system’s employee holiday luncheon Dec. 12.
