Bridget Thomas is a founder of Kirksville - Protect Our Pets (KV-POP), a non-profit organization dedicated to community outreach for the benefit of the area's pet dogs and cats. KV-POP helps low-income (or no-income) people spay/neuter, train, and tag their pets. Their ultimate goal is to help people care for their pets and thereby reduce the number of animals surrendered to overcrowded shelters. KV-POP also promotes adooption from a local shelter or rescue. She was a board member of the Adair County Humane Society from 2008-2013.

Sometimes helping others is easy. This is one of those times.

Have lunch or dinner at Ruby Tuesday (2510 N. Baltimore in Kirksville) on Wednesday, December 11, and – if you present this special flier – Ruby Tuesday will donate 20% of the cost of your meal to Kirksville – Protect Our Pets.

KV-POP will then use this money to help your neighbors who want to spay or neuter their pets, but struggle to get the money together to pay for the procedure. We issue vouchers that make the cost considerably more affordable. Read more about us at our website.

KV-POP is an all-volunteer organization, which means we have almost no administrative costs. We rent a mailbox and buy stamps, and that’s about it. The full dollar amount of your donation will go to our community outreach program. So far in our first three months we have issued 25 spay/neuter vouchers, preventing the suffering of many unwanted litters of animals.

join us for a meal tomorrow. Feed yourself. Help pets and their people.
