Paws to Consider

Bridget Thomas is a founder of Kirksville - Protect Our Pets (KV-POP), a non-profit organization dedicated to community outreach for the benefit of the area's pet dogs and cats. KV-POP helps low-income (or no-income) people spay/neuter, train, and tag their pets. Their ultimate goal is to help people care for their pets and thereby reduce the number of animals surrendered to overcrowded shelters. KV-POP also promotes adooption from a local shelter or rescue. She was a board member of the Adair County Humane Society from 2008-2013.

Have you been naughty or nice this year? No, not YOU … I’m talking to your pet! Never mind. Santa knows. And he will be here in Kirksville to meet your pets, listen to their excuses, take requests for presents, and pose for photos THREE times in the coming weeks. Each event benefits a good animal-related cause.

What’s your excuse for not getting your pet’s photo taken with Santa this year?

Saturday, December 7th, from 10 am – 1 pm at Lindquist Veterinary Care Center (1203 N. Baltimore St., Kirksville). Proceeds go to Field of Dreams Rescue.

Saturday, December 14th, from 9 am - 11 am at Tractor Supply Co (1700 N. Baltimore, Kirksville). Proceeds go to the Adair County Humane Society.

Saturday, December 14th, from10 am - 3 pm at Orscheln Farm and Home (2302 South Baltimore, Kirksville). Pet, kids, and adult photos with Santa and Mrs. Clause. There will be a mule show and you will be able to meet and pet real search and rescue dogs. Proceeds go to NEMO Search and Rescue.

And don’t forget -- this Saturday (12/7) -- stop by the Holiday Market to buy homemade pet treats and toys from KV-POP! We’ll be in Truman’s Student Union Building from 9-5. All proceeds help low income folks in our area spay/neuter their pets.
