Elks Hoop Shoot 2013 will be held from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Dec. 7. The local level of the popular national free throw contest will be held at Morgan County R-II Middle School in Versailles.
The contest will have three age groups for boys and girls: 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. Age is determined by how old a student will be on April 1, 2014. For example, a student that is seven years old now with a brithday in January would be eight years old on April 1, 2014, so the student would compete in the 8-9 group.
Students who competed at their local school and finished in the top three are already registered and should be there by 8 a.m. Students who were absent for their school contest or are from a school that did not hold a contest should be there at 8 a.m. to register as a "walk-in".
Parents should be there to confirm the student's age.
All student competitors will receive a t-shirt and Elroy T. Elk drug resistance prizes.
The top three shooters will receive plaques and basketballs. The first place shooter in each age group will advance to the next level at Clinton Middle School, 600 E. Clinton St., Clinton, Mo. on Dec. 14.
