One home was totally destroyed while another suffered substantial damage after a dual structure fire in Sunrise Beach over the weekend.
Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District responded to Squirrel Drive off of Montgomery Hill around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning. When units arrived, one residence was mostly destroyed while a working flame was consuming a second home. No one was in either home during the fire. Officials believe that both residences were vacant.
Within about 45 minutes, crews had the fire under control and saved a third structure which was in danger.
Sunrise Beach Fire Chief Reilly told the Lake Sun that he believes both fires were set on purpose but an investigation is currently ongoing.
Mid County Fire Protection District and Gravois Mills Fire Protection District both aided Sunrise Beach in these efforts.
