  • The Lake Sun recently reported that Mike Nichols with the city of Camdenton has resigned from his position effective Dec. 2.
Nichols is now telling the Lake Sun that he has accepted a position with the city of Hiawatha, Kan. Nichols will soon be Hiawatha's city administrator.
"An opportunity presented itself and I went after it," Nichols said.
Nichols, who has served as the assistant city administrator/economic development director since August 2009, says that his experience at Camdenton has prepared him for his new role in Hiawatha.
"I have been fortunate enough in Camdenton to be exposed to all facets of city government," Nichols said.
Since Nichols and his wife both grew up around the Kansas City area, he saw this opportunity as a chance to be closer to family.
Even though, he is excited about his new adventure, this move will be a bittersweet one.
"I really have enjoyed being here. I will miss a lot of things but at the same time I'm very excited," Nichols said.
