  • The nomination of Jason Hulett, dealer principal at Hulett Chevrolet Buick GMC in Camdenton, for the 2014 TIME Dealer of the Year award was recognized by State Representative Diane Franklin and Rocky Miller.
Hulett is one of a select group of 57 dealer nominees from across the country who will be honored at the 97th annual National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Convention & Exposition in New Orleans, La., on Jan. 25, 2014. .
In its third year as exclusive sponsor, Ally will recognize dealer nominees and their community efforts by contributing $1,000 to each nominee’s charity of choice. Nominees will also be recognized on the recently launched website, AllyDealerHeroes.com, which highlights the philanthropic contributions and achievements of auto dealers across the U.S.
The TIME Dealer of the Year award is one of the automobile industry’s most prestigious and highly coveted honors. Recipients are among the nation’s most successful auto dealers who also demonstrate a long-standing commitment to community service. Hulett, 42, was chosen to represent the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association in the national competition – one of only 57 auto dealers from 17,000 nationwide – nominated for the 45th annual award. The award is sponsored by TIME in association with Ally Financial, and in cooperation with NADA. A panel of faculty members from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan will select one finalist from each of the four NADA regions and one national Dealer of the Year.
“The most rewarding feeling in my automotive career has been to take the incredible wealth of knowledge I learned from my father and be successful in this business,” Hulett said of the dealership that was originally founded by his grandfather in 1965. “It is extremely rewarding to take that knowledge and not only survive but thrive."
Hulett added, “I am a third-generation car dealer. I have been in this store my whole life. I watched my grandfather, Cliff, hand the reins over to my father in 1980 when interest rates were 22 percent.”
Both his father and grandfather were TIME Dealer of the Year nominees, so he’s proud to carry on the tradition.
