  • Hospitalist Josh Brickner, D.O., of Lake Regional Health System, successfully completed the American Board of Internal Medicine board certification process.
Board certification means that physicians have met rigorous standards through intensive study, self-assessment and evaluation in six general areas established by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The ABIM is the largest of 24 certifying boards under the American Board of Medical Specialties umbrella.
“We are proud of Dr. Brickner’s accomplishment,” said Peter Rao, executive director of Lake Regional Medical Group. “This demonstrates his commitment to excellence in patient care.”
Brickner, a native of Bunceton, Mo., received a medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences before joining Lake Regional Health System in 2013.
He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Missouri.
As a hospitalist, Brickner is part of a team providing around the clock coverage for Lake Regional Hospital. While in the hospital, patients have access to an on-call hospitalist who monitors tests and treatments and transitions patient care to a primary care physician following discharge.
More than 100 physicians and nurse practitioners care for lake-area residents and visitors at Lake Regional Health System and its eight primary care clinics, 18 specialty clinics and two urgent care clinics. Lake Regional Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and is a three-time recipient of the Missouri Quality Award. Lake Regional Health System also operates rehab therapy clinics, retail pharmacies and home health services throughout the lake area.
