  • Larry Richard “Grumpy” Wardenburg, age 67, of Eldon, died Thursday, November 7, 2013, at his home. He was born in St. Louis County on May 1, 1946, son of Kenneth Richard and Evelyn Virginia (Coquelin) Wardenburg. On February 3, 1995 at Lake Ozark Christian Church he was married to Connie Lynette Shackelford, who survives at the home.
    Larry was an Air Force veteran and a long-time professional realtor/broker in the Lake of the Ozarks area. Over the years he has worked for Lodge of the Four Seasons, Lifestyles Properties and most recently, Reece & Nichols. When Larry wasn’t helping his clients he enjoyed traveling in his RV, skiing and spending time with his family.
    Others who survive him include: four children, Sandra Lynn Waggett and husband Mike of Lake Ozark, Christopher Lee Wardenburg and wife Erin of Denver, Colorado, Jeremy Edward Wardenburg and wife Alana of Columbia and Kimberly Erin Wardenburg of St. Louis; eight grandchildren, Ava, Cole, Brody and James Wardenburg, Darin Amber and Haley Braun and Patrick Rath; two step-daughters, Shannon Braun and husband Kelly of Jefferson City and Kari Rath and husband Shawn of Lee’s Summit; his mother, Evelyn (Coquelin) Wardenburg of Rocky Mount; sister, Lynn Doelling and husband Bill of St. Charles and brother, Lee Wardenburg of Rocky Mount.
    Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Minister Kevin Kenow will officiate. Interment will be in Olean Cemetery.
