  • Lake Regional Health System celebrates National Radiologic Technology Week to honor the hard work and accomplishments of its radiologic technologists. NRTW is observed each year during the week that includes Nov. 8, the day German physicist Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered the X-ray in 1895.
This year’s NRTW theme is “Radiologic Technologists: Positioning Ourselves for Excellence.”
Lake Regional began providing diagnostic imaging services to the lake area in 1978. Today, it is staffed by more than 65 employees who perform approximately 100,000 procedures annually. Many of the radiologic technologists have worked for the hospital for more than 20 years and have witnessed the growth of the department and rapid advances in imaging technology.
Specialties in the field of radiologic technology include breast imaging and digital mammography; computed tomography; cardiac and peripheral interventional procedures; magnetic resonance imaging; nuclear medicine; 3-D and 4-D ultrasound; radiation therapy; and general diagnostic radiology.
National Radiologic Technology Week was created by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists in 1979 and is a registered trademark of ASRT.
