After the countless hours of running, the cross country season prepares to draw to a close.

For four lake area runners, all that's left on the schedule is a trip to the annual state cross country meet this weekend. Osage's Matt Reid and Gabrielle Hill advanced along with Eldon's Chase Cook and Julianna Timm in the Class 3 meet after their performances at the Moberly meet last weekend. Cook and Reid finished strong in the boys' race with times of 18:12:10 and 18:18:20, respectively. Hill finished 7th overall in the girls meet with a time of 21:33, while Eldon's freshman Timm placed 15th with a final time of 22:14:60. Osage's boys team finished fifth overall, while Eldon finished eighth.

They all will head to Jefferson City on Saturday, Nov. 9 to compete at Oak Hills Golf Center. The first race is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., but the Class 3 race for boys will take place at 12 p.m. and the girls at 1:05 p.m. The Class 3 awards ceremony is scheduled to take place last at approximately 1:35 p.m. To facilitate parking at the state event, a free shuttle will be operating to provide transportation from the parking lots to Oak Hills. Camdenton's season is officially over, as junior Faith Scheidemantle finished her season at sectionals this past weekend at Ha Ha Tonka. Scheidemantle's time 20:23:28 was good enough to place 34th out of a field of 73 runners.

Rock Bridge secured first place at the meet, with Jefferson City finishing second and Branson in third.
Versailles' season has also ended, with the three Lady Tigers ( Kristen Nachbar, Chrissy Howard and Duanna Frerking) finishing right after each other, with Nachbar finishing 37th, Howard 38th and Frerking 39th. Ryan Surface led the Tigers on the boys side with a time of 21:03.49 for a 39th place finish.
