  • Golf event benefits Big Brothers, Big Sisters

  • For the second year in a row, Wells Fargo Advisors LLC and Baxter’s Lakeside Grille teamed up to support the Lake Area Big Brothers Big Sisters with a golf tournament at The Club at Porto Cima on Monday, Oct. 14.

  • For the second year in a row, Wells Fargo Advisors LLC and Baxter’s Lakeside Grille teamed up to support the Lake Area Big Brothers Big Sisters with a golf tournament at The Club at Porto Cima on Monday, Oct. 14. Eighteen teams gathered for the 4-man scramble competition. Following golf play, a reception was held for participants at Baxter’s, overlooking the Lake of the Ozarks.
    The following teams took honors in the 2013 tournament: A-flight first place, Tyler York, Josh Dupy, Joe Swisshelm, and Brad Kiser; A-flight second place, James Reinert, Tom Murphy, Dale Talley, and Adam Nachbar; B-flight first place, Jeff Alderman, Dennis Douglass, Patrick Rowland, and Joe Poretta; B-flight second place, Mark Lee, David Wortley, Harry Appleby, and Brent Appleby.
    On-course event winners were Liz Byland for closest to the pin (women), Gary Lock for closest to the pin (men), LizByland for long drive (women), and Brian Boehle for long drive (men). Tournament prizes awarded included gift cards to Baxter’s and The Club at Porto Cima pro shop.
    Big Brothers Big Sisters is a national program, active in every state, matchingchildren who need extra attention with an adult who has the time and ability to commit to give that attention. The Lake Area Big Brothers Big Sisters operates two programs, one where the child meets the adult in the community to go places and do things including visiting the adult's home, and the other where the child meets with the adult only at the child’s school once a week, usually for lunch. Currently Lake Area BBBS supports approximately 20 community matches and 37school matches, including School of the Osage high school students matched with children in the upper elementary.     The presenting sponsors for the tournament were Baxter’s and Wells Fargo Advisors LLC. Other top sponsors included Missouri Eagle (gold level) and B-W Graphics (silver level). Raffle sponsors were The Lodge of Four Seasons, The Club at Porto Cima and Baxter’s Lakeside Grille. Hulett Auto provided a hole-in-one sponsorship. Hole sponsors included First Trust, Goldman Sachs, The Original Pancake House, and Oppenheimer Funds.
