  • Local teenage singer-songwriter Shawn Campanini has been chosen to compete in a national showdown that will give the winner a big boost toward stardom. But for Shawn to win, people have to hear his music.
You can listen to Shawn C., by visiting http://songwriter.revimage.com/channels/Shawn+C+Music.
Through the Guitar Center’s Singer-Songwriter 3 competition, Shawn has his own unique webpage with five videos of him playing his best songs. Finalists are selected based on the highest online activity for one of their videos, so Shawn needs people to watch his videos or just click “Play” and listen while they surf the web—in order to move to the Finalist Round.
Online views will only count for the week of Nov. 3–9; any views before or after those dates will not help Shawn in the competition.
After the first round ends, 100 entrants will be chosen for the Finalist round, where they will be judged based on their talent, the quality of their music, the commercial viability of their song(s), and their personal entertainment value.
The top ten Finalists will receive a slew of audio equipment and a Fender Stratocaster®. The Grand Prize Winner will receive in addition to audio equipment a custom Martin acoustic/electric guitar, $25,000 cash, significant news media exposure, and production of a four-song EP with producer Don Was, who has worked with artists from The Rolling Stones to Garth Brooks to John Mayer.
    About Shawn
For Shawn Campanini any free moment is an opportunity to work on his music. Fast becoming a regular at Lake area venues, Shawn C (as he's known on stage) is constantly learning new songs, writing and producing music.
    And he's only getting started.
“I plan to make a career in music,” Shawn says. “I enjoy all aspects of music including song writing, performing, song production and studio recording.”
He recently released his first album, Chasing Echoes - a project that he wrote, mixed and mastered - all on his own.
“My goal is to hold my listeners' interest and always make sure there's something for everyone,” he says.
Shawn started becoming involved in local music and theater productions in 2006. His professional career took off when was booked as a regular performer during the summer of 2011 at Larry's on the Lake. This summer regular gigs were held at Captain Ron's and The Fish & Company.
He primarily plays current pop songs but acoustic renditions of many genres of music including classic rock to reggae. “Two of my favorite songs to play are 'The Remedy' by Jason Maraz and Billy Joel's 'Piano Man.'”
Page 2 of 2 - Keeping the band in the “family” allows for flexibility, he says. Depending on the needs of an audience, Shawn can provide an evening of purely instrumental music, a night of popular hits that people can dance and sing to, or a combination of both. Occasionally his younger sister Gemma (a 13-year-old known as Lil G) sings backup vocals and adds additional percussion. His looping pedal allows him to mix rhythm and lead tracks on the guitar or add percussion to get a more full-band sound.
