Oct. 26 is National Take-Back Day (however, you can take them in on any day).
Though you can "take back"medication any day in the area, this event provides a unified opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted or unused prescription drugs and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. This one-day effort brings national focus to the issue of prescription drug abuse. The program provides an opportunity for law enforcement, prevention, treatment and the business communities to collaborate and establish a safe collection site for all Americans, regardless of where they live.
Prescription Take Back "mailboxes" are located in our community at:
    Camden County Sheriff's Office, Camdenton
    Laurie Police Department
    Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Versailles
    Stover Police Department
    The "DOs" of Take Back
Bring identification to verify that you are at least 18 years old and that you reside at the address listed on the medications. You may bring medications from anyone living in your household. Bring medications in their original packaging from the pharmacy. Medications not in their original packaging will take longer to process and may be subject to further inspection.
You may bring any medication from a licensed pharmacist, including controlled substances and medicated ointments or patches.
    The "DON'Ts" of Take Back
Do not bring medication from anyone who does not reside in your home.
Do not bring illicit drugs (ex. marijuana, cocaine, etc.) to the "Take Back" site.
If this happens, law enforcement will investigate each incident.

    SHARPS objects/needles
    Liquids containing medications
    Prescription inhalers
