Fair Trade Bazaar set for Nov. 1
The lake community is invited to enjoy international shopping 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a delicious luncheon on Friday, Nov. 1.  “The Fair Trade items offered for sale are made not by local craftspeople but by women in third world countries struggling to make a better life for themselves and their children by breaking the cycles of poverty and exploitation. The “Fair Trade” labeling on today’s products carries a message to consumers concerned about the social justice of producers and worker behind the purchases they make.
Fair Trade labeling is similar to the “Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval” in that standards have been implemented regarding the working conditions, wages, child labor, and environment in developing countries. Shoppers looking for unusual gifts will appreciate the international market experience the Fair Trade Bazaar brings to the lake community. Many Fair Trade crafters recycle and reuse castoff materials as they create unusual, beautiful products such as bookends, planters, baskets, toys, cards, clothing, scarves and jewelry. Many items available are wonderful “stocking stuffers” for the holidays.
The Harvest Lunch which includes homemade soup, salad buffet, dessert, and beverage is only $8 for adults and $3 for children. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Call 346-5546 for carryout lunches and $7.50 advance tickets.
This event is hosted by the women of Community Christian Church in the Family Life Center at 1064 North Business Route 5 in Camdenton. Proceeds from this event support twenty local and global mission projects.
