Joseph D. Andrews, age 67, of Gravois Mills, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born April 28, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, a son of the late Olt and Elizabeth (Riffle) Andrews.
On April 24, 1973, in Stover, he was united in marriage to Lorrie Gilbert, who survives the home.
Joe was a United States Army veteran serving in Vietnam.
He worked in masonry for several years and was also a land surveyor for Slagle Surveying and later Riedel Surveying in Versailles.
Joe was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening. His faith was of the utmost importance as well as his love and dedication for his family. He was a wonderful example of a husband, dad and grandpa.
In addition to his wife, Lorrie, he is survived by his daughters, Carla Reed and husband Dennis of Liberal, Missouri, Cathryn Reams of Versailles, Missouri, Caren Raeder and husband James of Gravois Mills, Missouri and Cynthia Andrews of Gravois Mills, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren and was expecting his first great-grandchild in December; sisters, Sister Margaret Andrews, RSM of Independence, Kansas, Linda Batten of Alsea, Oregon, Janet Andrews of Corvallis, Oregon and Jane Uptegrove of Gravois Mills, Missouri; brothers, John Andrews of Hanover, Pennsylvania and Mike Andrews of Rhode Island; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Andrews.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 24th, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie with Father Patrick Dolan celebrating. Graveside services and inurnment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at the church.
